Not only because it was green, but because its girliness came with no justification -- neither the legitimate type vitamin fortification nor the fat-shaming type lower-than-normal calories.

It was also fantastic. Stuffing a plant into my face after a week of processed sludge felt like pressure-washing my insides. Special K egg-and-cheese breakfast sandwiches were a godsend, freeing me from the tyranny of a candified breakfast and standing in for a few dinners. But the real treats of the week were the two products I had to order by mail: beef jerky and trail mix.

The execution is more Hooters than Curves, though. Losing weight is all about making choices that you can live with for the long haul. And for me, having a Luna Bar in the morning is delicious, satisfying, and, most importantly, it works for me. Sure, making an egg white spinach omelet would also be healthy and tasty, but I work like crazy and have three kids, so time is always of the essence—and these bars are ready to go when I am.
