The scooter accelerates well enough to beat most traffic from a standing start. The scooter easily gets to 60mph and you can expect to see close to 70 on the clock — a liquid-cooled scooter makes better use of its power than a similar air-cooled machine. The feet-forward riding style of the PCX also means it seemingly glides around corners and the suspension is better than on many s.
The first service is at miles, then at six-monthly intervals. Like all modern scooters, the PCX has good weather protection and plenty of storage space beneath the seat. Add an optional top box and you can virtually double the storage capacity to make it even more practical. Skip to Content Skip to Footer. Road tests Home Reviews Road tests. An optimized clutch — and pulleys — complement the performance increase.
The electronically controlled, brushless ACG starter is an integrated component mounted directly on the end of the crankshaft, serving as starter motor and alternator.
It spins the engine directly, eliminating any noise from gear engagement or meshing. The PCX exhaust system has also been redesigned, with the catalyzer repositioned to better clean exhaust gases, allowing good power while protecting the environment. However, I can appreciate something that is a blast to monkey around on and that is something these small scooters are good at. I have yet to ride the new PCX but I have ridden every model year to date and have seen the generational changes and see how they felt on the road and this one has me excited to throw a leg over it.
Quick and odd question while I have your attention. Does anyone else wonder why this is being called a model year when Honda released the Ruckus and Metropolitan scooters on the same day? Is it a big deal? No but it makes me curious as to what decisions go on behind the scenes to decide that. What makes one model announced on the same day and scheduled to release in the same month become a versus a ? Like I said, is it important? I am curious as to the behind-the-scenes on it all though so I could quit speculating as to why they make this decision versus that haha.
Did Honda do enough to convince you to stop by your local Honda scooter dealer and check one out in person? But just for curiosity, I wonder what speed others have reached without modifying the stock scooter. My scooter is totally stock, and I am right about pounds. On long flat stretches of road I have been able to get to 64 mph, and that's it. Unless I have a strong tailwind or a slight downward incline, 64 mph is the top end even when I keep the throttle pinned for a length of time.
I am getting my first oil change next week, so maybe the scoot is not fully "broken in" yet, but I think that the top speed won't likely change much at all. So I feel comfortable on roads with a posted speed of 55 or less, and that is just fine for me and what I want the scooter for. Its a hoot to ride and I love it for around town errands instead of my big Goldwing. How fast does your PCX go? Re: Top speed Post by alx » Fri Jul 12, pm 73 mph but im only lbs and there is a big probability that the speedo of the pcx is not accurate at all..
Everything looks better from the inside of a motorcycle helmet Then it would do TopSpeed is not important except when you need to get out of the way or be in command on the interstate.
